A crumble is a dish that can be made in a sweet or savory version, although the sweet version is much more common. This oatmeal apple crumble is made with very little flour and more oats. I have used the natural sweetness of green and red apples with a zest of lemon juice and gave the crumble a hint of peanut butter note. I am happy to share this speedy and easy crumble with you 🙂
Ingredients :
1 Green Apple
2 Red Apple
1 tbsp. Cinnamon powder or 2 sticks of Cinnamon
4 tbsp. Large Oats
2 tbsp. Flour (all-purpose flour)
1 tbsp. Honey
3 tbsp. Peanut Butter (preferable crunchy)
1 tbsp. Lemon juice
Recipe :
- Preheat the oven on 180 C for 10 mins.
- Peel the skin of the apples and cut them in to medium pieces. Heat a sauce pan, cook the apples with cinnamon powder, lemon juice and water, until the apples are soft and mushy.
- Meanwhile make the crumble. In a large bowl add Oats, Flour, Peanut Butter and Honey. Mix with the tip of your fingers until you get a coarse crumble texture mixture.
- Grease a baking tin. Spread the mushy apple mixture in the baking tin, top it up with the crumble mixture and bake for about 30 minutes.
Please Remember this crumble will be a bit dry as it is not made with sugar granules. But I promise it will still taste delicious. If you do not have green apples, you can use only red and remember to squeeze some lemon juice as it will enhance the taste of the apple in the dessert.
Serve this beautiful Apple Crumble with some ice cream or custard on the side, or you can have it on its own.
